Fighting mental health stigma and providing a digital resource to students on campus
Overview
During the Fall of 2015, I worked with the Design for America Chapter at the University of Notre Dame, where they took on the challenge of helping students suffering from depression, isolation and stress.
On campus, there is little existing help for students needing mental health assistance. The University Counseling Center (UCC) is the primary resource for students, however, it is not widely used.
After researching the issue, we created an anonymous mental health forum called Elephant in the Room. We were awarded a $250 grant from the National DFA to code the website, and it was eventually adopted by the University of Notre Dame.
